PROJECT:

Professional archaeologists were on hand to train and assist local people to take part in an actual excavation of a derelict site off historic South Quay in Great Yarmouth.  Local community members were encouraged to develop new skills in excavation and also related topics such as, identification, research, recording and publication.  There were also practical demonstrations, activities, events and exhibition of finds as well as guided tours.  The culmination of the project was the landscaping of the site to support regeneration of the area.
