Work Wise
Personal Development Training
January 2006
We will be recruiting local people who are involved in delivering learning and training to train as WorkWise facilitators in January 2006 in order to deliver this exciting programme during February and March 2006 to local people in Great Yarmouth. This superb training is free to you as Great Yarmouth Learning Community and The Chamber of Commerce have joined resources to be able to offer you this excellent opportunity.
Too many people leave school without the personal skills or confidence needed to succeed in either further learning and / or the workplace. WorkWise is a personal development programme that has been developed to provide a powerful win-win situation for you, your organisation and local people in preparing them with the confidence and skills to take up local learning opportunities and /or for the world of work.
The programme helps to develop the attributes needed to take up learning opportunities and what local employers are looking for by including:
Listening & oral Communication skills
Adaptability and creative responses to setbacks and obstacles
Healthy self esteem, confidence
Motivation
Empathy, Interpersonal skills
How can I help? attitude
In return for the two days of Free Training, we ask that you commit to spending two or three days, with other facilitators sharing the knowledge gained from the WorkWise programme and from your own workplace experience with a small group of people locally - helping them develop the confidence, communication and skills required to access learning opportunities and / or employment.
For an example of the knowledge you will be able to share and use to encourage the development of the participants through delivering the programme locally please see the attached leaflet Helping to make the most of your self.
We would also ask for facilitators to assist the Learning Community in recruiting and planning the delivery of WorkWise to participants from the local community who could benefit from this exciting opportunity.
In training to be a facilitator there is an opportunity for your employees and your business to play an important role in developing the learners and workforce of the future for a developing Great Yarmouth.
I have personally taken part in WorkWise and whole heartedly recommend getting involved. It gave me both the opportunity to grow and develop as an individual and to give something back through delivering the training. To see the changes in people over the few days when delivering the programme was remarkable; individuals grew in confidence and got more and more involved in the training activities as their self esteem rose. But dont just take my word for it read some of the comments from previous facilitators and participants:
It was great to be with a great group of people all wanting to make a difference from all different backgrounds but with a common goal Karen Hurrell KL&WN BC.
Very rewarding. A good way of helping students achieve their full potential in life Kim Bryant - Hamlin Electronics.
I have greatly benefited from taking part in this scheme. I have gained confidence in working with a different demographic of people, as well as new skills and abilities like active listening, decision making, project management, organisation and leadership, all of which can be transferred back into my work environment. I have built relationships with other organisations and met new people through WorkWise that I would like to call friends. Alan Whittington Marsh Ltd .
I have learnt a lot through WorkWise, interview techniques, confidence boosting, radiators and drains that I am the most important person! Most importantly I have improved myself I can see myself improving all the time, especially when I put into practice what I had learnt. 10/10 Brill!
I have learnt to work in groups and have enjoyed learning to use communication in team events I have learnt to speak up.
